Email Notice - 01/08/08 - from Jeff Baxla to Primary List

Greetings and Happy New Year Freedom Fighters

There is a hearing scheduled in the Committee on Infrastructure Hearing in regard to HB137.  This is the legislation targeting and discriminatory against only motorcycles and there is some verbiage changing about keeping both wheels on the ground.  HB 137 is the only thing on their agenda.

Particularly the following Chapters listed, you should have members who are constituents of these committee members.  If you have good email trees or electronic phone trees like VoiceShots, you can tag this, otherwise there is little time.

Chapters that should have members who are actual constituents of committee members: Caloosahatchee, Peace River, Southwest, Estero River, Hillsborough, Ridge Manor, Palm Beach, Gulf Cost, White Sands, Panhandle, Lake

NOTE:  The committee members are serving to review this issue, which means we can all give our input, so everyone can participate.

There is a committee meeting  Jan 10, Thursday from 9am til noon, so unless you are already hot-wired, we have a short turn-around time.

Below are the committee member’s phone numbers at their Capitol offices.

Phone calls, faxes or emails are what would be need to get into offices on the 10th

MESSAGE TO COMMITTEE MEMBERS:  Please do not support HB 137, it is discriminatory and sets a dangerous precedent for singling out motorcyclists.  We have enough laws in place.

You can email directly from the Florida House of Representatives site
http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Representatives/representatives.aspx

You click on your Representative and then the “email your Representative” button in the top right corner of the page.
If you do not know who your Representative is, when you first go to the link above, look in the top right and click on ‘find my Representative”

I like the Mike Price version better at the Florida Biker Government Contact Listing, I find it more user friendly.
http://www.floridabiker.com/Facts&Stats/government_contact_listing.htm

If you do not know who your legislators are, he has buttons there to get them as well

The AMA site allow you to use their form letter if you do not want to make your own, Mike has a link to them as well.

The above is a direct link to the Florida issue.

You can also save the link below to go back and visit
http://www.amadirectlink.com/legisltn/rapidresponse.asp

When you hit the link, look to the right and input “FL” to see if they are listing Florida issues.  I will also forward the email I have from them; you can hit the link from within it.

Below is the bill summary.

If you don’t pop wheelies or involve yourself in the shenanigans that led to this legislation being introduced, be careful of the “NOT ME” thing.
If we give them an inch here, it could cost us miles.  You survived the holiday rush if you are reading this, but ride safe out there,
it can always be a jungle….JEB
