Gulf Coast Takes Stand...
To all: I am proud to announce that the Gulf Coast bikers took a united stand in solidarity for one of our ABATE brothers. A very special thanks to all 26 bikers that attended the sentencing hearing on 3/24/08. 26 bikers signed the register for Rob's attorney's in support of Rob Shaffer. We were there as a show of unity of all bikers during the sentencing of a young man who chose to get drunk, steal a friends car, hit a parked biker and flee the scene. After Rob spoke on his own behalf, I was allowed to speak on Rob's and all biker's behalf. Local law enforcement present commended us on our professional conduct. The defendant received the maximum sentence on all charges. 5yrs state prison, 5 yrs county jail, 5 yrs probation, 5yrs revocation of license, confiscation of any owned motor vehicle, and an open figure on restitution, etc. This was not just ABATE that showed their support. I want to personally thank TK Johnson and the 7 members of the Crestview Legion Post 75. They rode about 60 miles to be there. Fireman Rick of the Fire and Iron Firefighters MC, Several members of American Legion Post 340. The CMA was present. Several of our Chapter members also showed up. Several present have more than one affiliation. There were even some UN-affiliated bikers there. Channel 3 news and the Pensacola News journal interviewed us and covered the story. They gave the credit to ABATE. This is to announce loudly and passionately, WE WERE NOT ALONE! It is obvious that the word has gotten out that we are all sick and tired of burying our brothers and sisters. This was an opportunity for those that think that ABATE is all about only ABATE. The support and recognition of the battle that we are all fighting together is finally on the fore front of everyone's mind. The solidarity shown by each individual and there organization that was there, shows that ABATE is not alone in the fight for justice. Please urge all to get the word out that bikers will not stand idlely by and allow our brothers and sisters to fall unnoticed. Thank you to all individuals and organizations that made the appearance and ride safe and free. To all ABATE members in the Gulf Coast Chapter: As your President, I ask that we all pay attention to all of the individuals and organizations that support our events and work with us in the fight for the cause. Support them and thank them for their show of unity and cooperation. Gulf Coast Chapter members all remember this was a goal of myself and our board when we took office. This goal is continual and succeeding. Thanks again to all. Bless you and ride safe and free. Satch -- |
